Thomas “Tom” J. Beckenbauer, Chairman, Board of Directors and President

Mr. Beckenbauer is an accomplished leader in the field of aviation with over four decades of leadership experience. He served his country for 27 years as a Naval Flight Officer flying in F-4 Phantoms and F-14 Tomcats and rounded out his career by serving as the Commanding Officer of the Fleet Aviation Specialized Operational Training Group, Atlantic. Mr. Beckenbauer then served as a Naval Science Program Manager and Instructor in the NJROTC program at Anaheim High School, Anaheim, CA., for three years. Next, he joined FedEx and worked as a Flight Operations Manager for 10 years. While working at FedEx, Mr. Beckenbauer earned a Master’s Degree in Commercial Aviation from Delta State University. A private pilot, instrument rated, Mr. Beckenbauer now enjoys flying Light Sport Aircraft and gliders. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Experimental Aircraft Association. In 2012 Mr. Beckenbauer founded the Catholic Aviation Association where he currently serves as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation. He and his wife, Joy, reside in Carmel, IN and attend Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.

Joyce-Margaret “Joy” Beckenbauer, Vice-Chair, Board of Directors

Mrs. Beckenbauer is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of Southern California. She has Masters Degrees in History, English and Information Science. Mrs. Beckenbauer has worked at Bechtel Engineering Nuclear Power Division in Los Angeles and San Francisco; the Del Monte Foods World Headquarters in San Francisco in the computing department; and as Assistant Director of Admissions (Counseling and Education) at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va. As Mr. Beckenbauer’s wife while he served as the Commanding Officer of the Fleet Aviation Specialized Operational Training Group, Atlantic, Mrs. Beckenbauer performed a myriad of duties, material and social, to support him and his command. She also volunteered her time in helping with the Anaheim HS NJROTC, working with over 100 cadets. Mrs. Beckenbauer has assisted in the development of the Catholic Aviation Association since its inception and is thoroughly committed to its growth. She and her husband, Tom, reside in Carmel, IN and attend Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.

James “Jim” R. Kolstad, Board of Directors

Mr. Kolstad grew up around aviation as an Air Force Brat. He first experienced flying (in gliders) in High School at RAF Feltwell, U. K. College ROTC enabled him to receive private pilot training and gained him a commitment from the Army for flight school. Upon graduation and Commissioning he entered active duty and received flight training at Fort Walters, Texas. Mr. Kolstad earned his wings at Ft Rucker, Alabama. He then served his country for four years as an Army flight officer with duties that included Assistant Operations Officer, Readiness officer and platoon leader. He then transitioned into the civilian world in business with a Fortune 500 company, Hallmark Cards. With leadership skills developed in the Army. Mr. Kolstad held various positions of increasing responsibility which included Resident Manager of Hallmark’s Hong Kong China procurement office. Mr. Kolstad earned a BS degree from St Norbert University and an MBA from Rockhurst University. He has earned a private pilot fixed wing rating and a commercial pilot instrument rating in rotary wing. Mr. Kolstad is an Active member of Our Lady Mount Carmel Parish and is involved in the Stephens Ministry, Christ Renews His Parish spiritual development program and Lions of God men’s study group.

Robert “Rob” A. Morris, Board of Directors

Mr. Morris served his community and the educational system for over three decades. He received Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Elementary Education from Ball State University and then taught 6th grade Science, Social Studies and Language Arts for 33 years. In addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Morris’ responsibilities included supervising transportation for the Carmel Junior High School, coordinating Carmel High School football, track and soccer events, and organizing annual school organizing yearly field trips. Mr. Morris also served as a negotiator, then Chief Spokesman and, ultimately, President for the Carmel Clay Education Association. In this capacity he represented all Carmel Clay School teachers in regards to their contracts. Mr. Morris has a love of aviation and in 2008 became a member of EAA. He is now the “Young Eagle” Chairman for EAA Chapter # 67 in Noblesville, IN, where he introduces interested young boys and girls to the aviation world by arranging for them to have introductory flights in General Aviation aircraft flown by EAA Chapter members. Mr. Morris is involved in many activities at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish. He is married to his High School sweetheart, with whom he has four children and 3 grandchildren, and resides in Westfield, IN.

Kenneth D. “Ken” Pack, Board of Directors

Mr. Ken Pack studied journalism at Indiana State University and went on to receive his B.S. in Secondary Education from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. He then completed his law degree at Indiana University School of Law. From 2003 to 2005, Mr. Pack worked for the Office of Assistant Chief Counsel of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection doing legal project work. While there, he received a special commendation for his efforts. In 2005, Mr. Pack joined Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. regional airline, serving as Manager of Labor Relations. A Certified Mediator, he worked to resolve conflicts while developing and enforcing consistent policies involving the labor force. Mr. Pack is now a Corporate Attorney for Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. Outside of work, Mr. Pack is an avid musician/guitarist and is active in his community and church. He resides with his wife, Beth, and three children in Carmel, IN where they attend Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.
